TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Whether scooping, sipping, or snapping a photo, Gelato Pique Cafe is serving up a taste of seal-shaped summer fun across Taiwan.
The limited-time “Sealicious” series features three creations highlighting the rich, nutty flavor of black sesame. The star of the show is black sesame crepes topped with tiny, edible seal-shaped scoops of ice cream, priced at NT$240 (US$8).
These adorable “seals” are scoops of black sesame ice cream wrapped in soft mochi, keeping them cool as they perch atop creamy black sesame crepes. The ice cream is crafted in collaboration with Tainan’s artisanal Ninao Gelato, a boutique favorite from Zhengxing Street that helped spark Taiwan’s wave of artisanal gelato.
At Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place A8, the seal-shaped crepes are proving a hit, with about 50 sold on weekdays and over 100 on weekends. Fans can also sip a black sesame latte for NT$160 or enjoy a scoop of black sesame gelato to complete the seal-themed experience.
“Sealicious” is available at all three cafe locations in Taiwan: Taipei Xinyi, Linkou Mitsui Outlet, and Taichung LaLaport. The series is part of the cafe's seasonal rotation of collaborations every two to three months.
