TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) told the new envoy from Poland about his hopes for Taiwan forming a closer alliance with the Central European semiconductor triangle of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Janusz Henryk Bilski recently succeeded Cyryl Kozaczewski, who served in Taipei for four years, per CNA. The new envoy, who speaks fluent Mandarin and visited Taiwan more than 20 years ago, met Lin on Wednesday for the first time since taking office.
The minister wrote on his Facebook page how Bilski’s hometown of Lodz hosted factories from important Taiwanese investors including Compal Electronics and Ideal Bike Corporation. Lin led a delegation to Europe last year that visited the city.
Taiwan worked with Poland in improving the resilience of the Central and East European semiconductor supply chain, Lin said. The country could also enhance the global influence of its technology manufacturing sector by working closely with the semiconductor triangle formed by Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany, he added.
Lin also emphasized the importance of direct transportation links and cultural and artistic exchanges. The minister concluded by offering Bilski a travel book he wrote himself, in the hope it would help the Polish envoy discover the beauty of Taiwan.
