TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Gigastorage Corp. announced Tuesday it is entering the AI cooling market through a partnership with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), aiming to develop energy-efficient solutions for high-performance computing systems.
The company said its direct-formed fin technology uses diamond abrasives for high-precision machining to produce high aspect ratio fins, which can be configured in one- or two-dimensional arrays, per CNA. These fins are compatible with ITRI’s liquid cooling, immersion cooling, and vapor chamber systems.
Gigastorage and ITRI are currently in technical discussions and plan to begin further testing. Sample products were recently exhibited at the Open Compute Project Asia-Pacific Summit, according to Liberty Times.
The partnership marks Gigastorage’s strategic move to diversify beyond solar power and enter the fast-growing AI thermal management sector, where demand is being driven by the need for energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
Despite the shift into AI hardware, the company said it remains committed to green energy. Gigastorage operates a 12 MW solar power plant and a 17.5 MW energy storage facility in Taiwan. Through its affiliates, the company manages about 105 MW of solar capacity, generating 146 million kWh of green electricity annually.
