TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail responded to online reports on Monday that a bridge section in Taichung suffered structural damage after recent rains.
THSR said the structure is safe, and passengers should travel with confidence. It also asked netizens to refrain from spreading false information without verification to avoid public panic, per CNA.
It said that what appears to be a crack in a bridge support is just a water stain. The structure is indeed safe with the structural integrity intact.

THSR said watermarks were a normal phenomenon following rainfall. Netizens are advised to refrain from spreading false information without verification to avoid causing panic among passengers and the public.
According to THSR, regular inspections of all bridge structures and civil engineering facilities are conducted along the entire line to ensure safety. Furthermore, a disaster warning system is installed along the entire line to monitor operational safety at all times.
