TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) made the opening address at the Taiwan Culinary Exhibition on Friday.
Speaking at the Taipei World Trade Center, Lai praised Taiwanese cuisine and its vital role in attracting foreign visitors. Lai said his government will continue to assist the industry and expects many good things to come in the next few years, per CNA.
This year's theme is "Fresh Catch Feast," highlighting ingredients like fresh-caught seafood and grand presentations of food. Lai said regional cuisine in Taiwan is influenced by ethnic groups that create unforgettable flavors and tastes.

He said Taiwanese are fortunate to enjoy cuisine from all over the world, often prepared with local flair. For example, Japanese cuisine may take on a unique taste and flavor when prepared by inventive local chefs.
According to Lai, many restaurants are now focusing on service and hospitality with well-trained staff. This demonstrates the enthusiasm and commitment of Taiwanese to the hospitality industry.
Last year's exhibition, held over four days, attracted 240 chefs who conducted 400 culinary shows and food seminars. Attendance also increased significantly from past years, rising to 104,575 attendees in 2024, per the Taiwan Visitors Association.
The exhibition runs until Monday. Advanced tickets can be purchased at all major outlets like Klook, ibon, and Family Mart. For more information, visit the exhibition website.
