TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration forecasts that heavy rain will continue to affect central and southern Taiwan until Monday, with the possibility of flooding and landslides.
During this period, the administration warned of severe weather conditions, including lightning, strong winds, and brief but intense downpours in central areas and the south, per CNA. A typhoon may form near the waters southeast of Japan on Saturday and is expected to affect parts of that country, the administration added.
Heavy rain is expected in central and southern regions and Taitung on Friday, while the north may see brief showers. Temperatures across the nation will range from 25 C to 33 C.
From Saturday to Monday, rainfall across western Taiwan is expected to intensify. The north will experience showers and isolated heavy rain, while central and southern regions, particularly in the mountains, may experience torrential rain. Temperatures will range from 26 C to 33 C in the north and 24 C to 30 C in central and southern areas.
On Tuesday, rainfall in western Taiwan is expected to ease. Central and southern regions may experience isolated brief showers, while the north will be mostly cloudy with occasional afternoon rain. Temperatures across the country will range from 26 C to 33 C.
The administration also forecasts mostly sunny weather across Taiwan from Wednesday to Aug. 8, with high temperatures potentially reaching up to 38 C.
