TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Six Taiwanese companies appear on the new Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest firms by revenue, with TSMC and Quanta Computer posting significant gains.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. jumped 60 places to rank 126th, per CNA. Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn, remained Taiwan’s top performer, holding the 28th spot.
This year’s Fortune Global 500 companies generated a combined US$41.7 trillion (NT$1.25 quadrillion) in revenue, a 1.8% increase from 2023, representing more than one-third of global GDP. The companies also employed 70.1 million people worldwide.
US retail giant Walmart topped the list for the 12th consecutive year and the 20th time since 1995. While the top 10 rankings remained relatively stable, several tech firms surged, including Meta Platforms, which rose 25 spots to No. 41; AI chipmaker Nvidia, which soared 156 places to No. 66; and Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, which climbed 52 spots to No. 91.
The six Taiwanese firms on the list are Foxconn (28th), TSMC (126th), Quanta Computer (348th), Pegatron Corp. (461st), CPC Corporation (494th), and Wistron Corp. (496th). Quanta recorded the biggest gain among them, rising 96 spots from the previous year.
