TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A train on the Taipei MRT Brown (Wenhu) Line stopped at around 8:03 a.m. on Monday due to an emergency warning signal on a train heading toward Taipei Zoo, per UDN.
According to Taipei MRT, the abnormality was detected between Jiannan Road Station and Zhongshan Junior High School Station. As a result, service in that section was diverted to a single track operating in both directions.
The disruption caused significant delays for commuters headed to Neihu Software Park and Nangang Exhibition Center. Overcrowding was reported on station platforms, with many passengers anxious to reach work on time. Shuttle buses were deployed between Jiannan Road and Zhongshan Junior High School stations to help ease the burden.
As of 9 a.m., full operations had not yet resumed. Trains were stopping for an average of five minutes at many stations, and one out of every two trains asked passengers already aboard to disembark before departure.
Taipei MRT said intervals between trains had increased to as much as 15 minutes. Commuters in a hurry were advised to seek alternate transportation or transfer at other stations.
For questions regarding tickets or refunds, passengers can visit information desks at stations or check the official website. Service updates are also available via the Taipei Metro GO app.
