TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Airborne Service Corps said Monday that the Cabinet has approved upgrades for its fleet of Dauphin helicopters.
The Dauphin helicopters have been in service for over 30 years and still use older analog avionics, Liberty Times reported. They are also facing obsolescence and supply chain issues.
All nine Dauphins will be fully upgraded to the digitalized N3+ standard. A contract was signed in January with Airbus Helicopters. Delivery of the advanced helicopters will last between 2027 and 2030.
The helicopters will be equipped with digitalized cockpits and advanced avionics suites, which will significantly reduce pilot workload and enhance all-weather, day-and-night rescue capabilities, as well as mission success rates.
The NASC also operates UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and Beechcraft King Air 200 fixed-wing turboprop aircraft.
