TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan AI Robotics Industry Alliance launched Tuesday with plans to make the country a global robotics powerhouse.
The group outlined four key goals, including building five types of domestically developed robot platforms and integrating AI robots into eight sectors ranging from healthcare to disaster response, per CNA. It aims to exceed NT$1 trillion (US$33.96 billion) in robotics output value by 2030, per Liberty Times.
Backed by six major industry associations, including the Taiwan Machine Tool and Accessory Builders’ Association and the Taiwan Intelligent Automation and Robotics Association (TAIROA), the alliance seeks to unify Taiwan’s hardware and software strengths under a common industrial strategy.
TAIROA Chair Chen Wen-jen (陳文貞) said global labor shortages and advances in AI mean now is the ideal time to scale up robotics. The launch also coincides with the Cabinet’s approval of a national smart robotics program in May.
The primary objective is to develop humanoid and robotic platforms for industrial use. The second is to build four core systems, including decision-making, motion control, sensing, and power, under a “Made-in-Taiwan” framework.
The alliance also plans to push adoption across manufacturing, caregiving, and food service. By bringing robots into real-world operations, it hopes to improve domestic demand and export competitiveness.
