TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) was interviewed by Chinese media during his visit to Beijing for the China International Supply Chain Expo last week.
In an interview published by CCTV on Sunday, Huang extolled China’s role as a central pillar of global supply chains while casting doubt on the capacity of nations to build and maintain supply chains independent of Chinese manufacturing. Huang referred to the complexity, efficiency, and size of China’s supply chain management as “one of the world’s great miracles.”
Speaking about the US, Huang said that it cannot manufacture everything by itself, nor would it be sensible or necessary to do so. Huang said that the interconnectedness of global markets means that countries will remain interdependent.
According to Huang, the size and scope of China’s manufacturing technology have given the country an incredible opportunity to influence supply chains across the world. Huang claimed that global manufacturing is too complicated for national or regional supply chains to become disconnected from one another.
“It will always be connected, and you also want that connection,” Huang told the interviewer.
He noted that Nvidia is a huge beneficiary of the complex global supply chain, with between 100 and 200 partners worldwide, many with a large business presence in China. He touted Nvidia’s expertise at maintaining a very “agile supply chain,” capable of overcoming sudden disruptions to its supply chain.
