TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration forecasts that the outer circulation of Tropical Storm Wipha will continue to affect Taiwan, bringing heavy rain across the nation Monday.
Temperatures across Taiwan will range from 25 C to 31 C. Torrential downpours are expected to continue in Taitung and Hualien, while localized heavy rain will occur in other regions of the nation, per Yahoo News.
Taitung County Government announced that work and classes are suspended on Monday in Dawu, Taimali, Daren, and Jinfeng Townships due to the weather. Officials also urged residents to remain alert for potential landslides and flooding.
Strong winds are possible from Monday to Tuesday in New Taipei, Changhua, Pingtung, Taitung, Penghu, and Matsu, according to the administration.
Localized heavy rain is likely in Taitung and Hualien from Tuesday to Wednesday, while other regions may see brief, scattered showers. Rainfall is expected to ease between Thursday and Sunday, with northern and eastern Taiwan experiencing occasional brief showers, while other areas will be mostly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers.
Temperatures across Taiwan from Tuesday through Sunday will range between 25 C and 33 C.
The administration also forecasts that a new tropical depression may form this week over the waters east of the Philippines. Its potential path could bring it toward Japan's Okinawa Islands or affect eastern Taiwan.
