TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's professional baseball league hosted the second game of an All-Star Weekend on Sunday, drawing 40,000 fans, bringing total attendance for the two-day event at the Taipei Dome to 80,000.
The turnout set records for both All-Star Game attendance and box office. Fans were treated to a pitching duel in the final match, with the game scoreless at the end of regulation play, per NOWnews.
This league implemented a home run swing-off to break the deadlock, similar to Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, which took place on Wednesday. In this format, each team chooses one hitter, who is given three pitches.
If there is a tie, successive rounds are held with different hitters. Chu Yu-Hsien (朱育賢) delivered victory for Team Taiwan in the second round, defeating the CPBL All-Stars 2-1.

This game was also a sendoff for legendary Wei Chuan Dragons star Lin Chih-Sheng (林智勝). Lin batted second in the lineup and played shortstop after a 10-year absence from the position.
Although he failed to get a hit in two games, when he left in the eighth inning, he received a loud ovation with fans chanting his name. Lin said, "After the last ball, my feet almost gave out, so I asked the coach to replace me. It's an honor to play shortstop for Team Taiwan."
Lin has participated in 22 All-Star Games throughout his career, the most in the history of Taiwan's professional league. He was emotional after the game, as he said, "I may never have the chance to experience this kind of grand occasion again in my lifetime."
In addition to the baseball, six cheerleading teams performed together in an opening dance. Also, Minnie, from the South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE, threw out the first pitch on Sunday.
