TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Guatemalan congressional delegation led by Congress President Nery Abilio Ramos y Ramos, arrived in Taiwan on Monday for a five-day visit.
During their stay, the delegation will meet with President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and hold talks with Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The lawmakers will also visit the Legislative Yuan, Mainland Affairs Council, Hsinchu Science Park, and National Palace Museum, along with other cultural institutions.
This is the second time Ramos has visited Taiwan, the foreign ministry said. Under his leadership, Guatemala's Congress has twice passed resolutions supporting Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly and issued statements opposing China’s misinterpretation of UN Resolution 2758, according to the ministry.
“Taiwan and Guatemala enjoy a longstanding and robust diplomatic relationship, marked by frequent high-level exchanges and strong parliamentary cooperation,” the foreign ministry said. Both sides look forward to deepening cooperation in semiconductors, public health, infrastructure, and talent development, to promote mutual prosperity, it added.
