TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Army Penghu Defense Command carried out an anti-air assault drill at Penghu Airport on Sunday as part of the live-fire segment of Han Kuang 41.
The drill simulated an enemy airborne assault aimed at destroying critical military infrastructure at the airport, CNA reported. The command quickly deployed soldiers and launched a joint search and destroy operation with troops from other units.
CM21 armored vehicles and other military assets were also deployed. They then successfully neutralized the enemy threat and protected the airport’s facilities.
Taiwan’s First Combat Zone noted that the drill focused on realistic combat scenarios, enhancing troop responsiveness and command and control coordination. This ensures soldiers can respond in rapidly evolving combat environments and contribute to Taiwan’s defense resilience, it added.
This year’s Han Kuang live-fire exercise will run until July 18.
