TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — South Korean lifestyle brand Object has landed in Taipei’s Zhongshan District, offering a fresh lineup of customizable goods that blend design innovation with personal expression.
Founded in 2013, Object is known for spotlighting emerging artists and designers through original merchandise and creative collaborations. The Taipei store offers a hands-on, creative experience where visitors can explore original designs and craft unique accessories.
Among its signature items are the “wappen” embroidered patch series. These fabric patches can be ironed onto apparel, bags, and accessories to create unique combinations.
In Korean, wappen broadly refers to decorative applique patches, including both embroidered and fabric designs. Also featured is the modular ‘Podo keyring’ series, inspired by grape clusters, which allows users to mix and match components
Customers can personalize plush “no-face dolls,” a popular in-store experience, by selecting different wappen patches. After selection, staff apply the patches using a heat press, resulting in a unique creation.
Visuals in the wappen and Podo keyring lines are original works co-developed by South Korean illustrators and the brand’s in-house design team. Object told Taiwan News that embroidery is held to high standards in South Korea, which is why many of the wappen designs are partially handmade to meet those expectations.
Keeping pace with trends from South Korea’s cultural and creative scene, the Taipei store features select items from brands such as Soso Studio, known for minimalist character designs; InapSquare, featuring bold slogans paired with simple line art; Choigosim, with its soft, comforting aesthetic; and TextContext, an award-winning illustrator celebrated for portrayals of dogs.
Beyond retail, the Object showroom, located a few steps from the main store, also serves as an exhibition space. Its debut show spotlights South Korean illustrator Hand in Glove in the artist’s first overseas presentation, an immersive exhibition inspired by whimsical elements of daily life.
