TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Pingtung County Government has announced plans for double-decker bus night tours to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Hengchun.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Chang Jui-yu (張瑞裕), deputy director of Pingtung’s Transportation and Tourism Development Bureau, said the county government partnered with local businesses to create a nighttime travel experience exclusive to the south, per CNA.
Chang explained that the tours will be offered every Friday and Saturday evening from July 18 to Aug. 30, with two trips between Hengchun and Kenting per night. Each tour is limited to 80 passengers, and the fee is NT$499 (US$17.10) per person.
The fare includes round-trip transportation on the double-decker bus and two specialty drinks. Tour organizers collaborated with multiple cocktail bars in Hengchun and Kenting to produce a “Traveler’s Map,” encouraging visitors to discover the vibrant nightlife of southern Taiwan.
Registration is available via Accupass. Passengers on the first night will receive an exclusive, specially designed “Southern Starry Night” shot glass.
The bus departs from near Hengchun Police Precinct and stops at the Dajianshan public parking lot near the Kenting National Park archway, taking about 15 minutes each way.
The bureau said the tour is an innovative tourism initiative that highlights the region’s nighttime attractions. By offering scenic nighttime travel via double-decker bus, visitors can enjoy the Hengchun Peninsula without needing to drive, it added.
