TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei and Hsinchu will be included for the first time in the latest Michelin Guide for Taiwan.
The full list of selected restaurants for the Michelin Guide Taiwan 2025 will be unveiled on Aug.19, per CNA. This year’s selection will cover Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and the newly added areas of New Taipei, Hsinchu, and Hsinchu County.
The Michelin Guide Ceremony 2025 will be held at the Grand Hilai Taipei. The event will celebrate culinary excellence, recognizing the achievements of chefs and restaurant teams in seven regions.
Regarding the Bib Gourmand recommendations, Michelin Taiwan said they primarily highlight eateries offering value-for-money meals. This year’s Bib Gourmand list will be released a week before the main ceremony.
The list will be made available through the Michelin Guide website and app.
Michelin Guide’s inspectors evaluate all types of cuisine anonymously, focusing on the quality of the food served. The evaluation is based on five globally consistent criteria:
- The quality of ingredients
- The mastery of cooking techniques
- The harmony of flavors
- The personality of the cuisine
- The consistency both over time and through the menu as a whole
Other factors such as location, decor, service, and facilities are not included in the evaluation standards. However, if there are exceptional aspects worthy of attention, they may be specially highlighted.
