TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Compal announced Monday that it has wrapped up the first phase of its new manufacturing site in Poland, marking a key milestone in its European expansion.
The contract manufacturer said that its facility in Czeladz, Silesia completed initial construction last month, setting the stage for trial production by year’s end, per CNA. The project marks a major step in Compal’s push to build a stronger foothold in Europe’s automotive electronics sector.
The Poland plant will produce electronic control units (ECUs) then expand to sensors for advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving, per UDN. Designed for an annual capacity of 3.5 million ECUs, the site features seven fully automated assembly and testing lines along with cleanrooms and positive-pressure facilities.
Compal said the project will help localize its supply chain for European automakers and tier-one suppliers, boosting efficiency and responsiveness. It aims to achieve ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certifications.
The company also plans to set up a business development and technical support team in Europe to work with customers on engineering and technology collaboration.
Founded in 1984, Compal is one of the world’s largest contract manufacturers of laptops and electronic devices. In recent years, the company has intensified its focus on automotive electronics, with clients mainly consisting of European car manufacturers.
