TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A record 1.18 million job openings in Q2 signal Taiwan’s evolving workplace, with salaries and flexible roles on the rise, Jobs 104 reported on Saturday.
According to a press release, median annual salaries in tech and finance exceeded NT$900,000 (US$30,900) while part-time opportunities reached a record 210,000 positions, reflecting changing workforce needs, per UDN. In sector rankings, accommodation and food services led with 239,000 openings, underlining a strong post-pandemic recovery, per CNA.
Electronics, IT, and semiconductor industries rebounded with 176,000 openings, bolstered by AI investment, while wholesale and retail followed with 174,000, showing healthy demand across multiple industries.
Technology and finance continue to top the high-salary rankings, with computer and consumer electronics manufacturing reporting a record median annual salary of NT$940,000, up 12% from the previous year. Semiconductors and financial institutions were close behind at NT$900,000, making high pay a crucial tool to retain skilled workers.
New high-earning roles are emerging as well. Data scientists now command a median monthly salary of NT$71,000, while AI engineers earn NT$65,000, said Job BankVice President Chung Wen-hsiung (鍾文雄), adding that strong demand and high skill requirements have driven wages up.
Post-pandemic booms in fitness and medical aesthetics also pushed up salaries for fitness coaches to NT$60,000 and for aesthetic consultants to NT$55,000. Chung said these roles reflect how niche skills are meeting shifting social and industry trends.
Mid-to-senior-aged workers are also stepping up to ease labor shortages, with demand for age-friendly openings jumping 32% to 48,000 per month. The survey showed that younger employees value work-life balance, while older workers look for new challenges and growth opportunities, all while “low pay” remains the top reason employees of all ages change jobs.
