TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Taiwan Lottery player took home a combined NT$1.753 billion (US$60 million) in Super Lotto (威力彩) winnings after spending just NT$800 on a ticket.
The Super Lotto, also known as the Power Lottery, is Taiwan's most lucrative lottery. The lottery was drawn on Thursday, with a single winner claiming the NT$1.738 billion jackpot, per CNA.
The winning ticket was purchased at a lottery shop on Minsheng Road in Taichung's West District. According to system records, the player selected some numbers manually and let the system choose the rest for Zone 1, while using a full combination of eight numbers for Zone 2.
This NT$800 strategy secured not only the jackpot but seven second prizes worth NT$2.14 million each. This brought the combined total to NT$1.753 billion.
Taiwan Lottery added that its Grand Lottery has featured a Dragon Boat Festival bonus since May 20, offering 100 additional NT$1 million prizes. As of Friday, seven of those prizes remain unclaimed.
Each Grand Lottery ticket offers two chances to win. Friday night’s jackpot is expected to reach NT$230 million.
