TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said that a tropical storm forming near Guam and moving toward Taiwan could develop into a typhoon and impact the nation in early July, CNA reported.
This year's second typhoon, Sepat, formed Monday and is moving toward Japan, with no expected effect on Taiwan. Wu added that before July, a tropical disturbance near Taiwan's surrounding waters has a chance to develop into a typhoon, but it is also not expected to affect the country.
Taiwan is forecast to see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies across the nation from Wednesday to Thursday, with isolated brief afternoon showers expected in mountainous areas. Temperatures will range from 23 C to 37 C in the north and 23 C to 36 C in central and southern regions.
On Wednesday, UV levels in northern, southern, and eastern Taiwan, as well as the outlying islands, will range from high to extreme, while central Taiwan will see moderate levels. Air quality across the country is expected to be good to moderate.
From Friday through the weekend, central, southern, southeastern Taiwan, as well as Penghu and Kinmen, may see occasional showers or thunderstorms. Northern and northeastern regions are likely to experience afternoon thundershowers. Temperatures across the nation will range between 25 C and 33 C.
