TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Gender Equity Education Association launched Magic School 2 on Friday, a board game to educate the public about school bullying and gender-based violence
The game is a sequel to the group’s 2016 anti-bullying title Magic School and aims to build empathy, awareness, and teamwork among players, per CNA. It features illustrations by children’s book artist Chen Pei-yu (陳沛珛), whose warm style softens difficult themes while preserving their impact.
Junior high teacher Shih Ting (教師), who helped develop the game, said playtesting revealed how students appreciated its message that real-life problems can be addressed through cooperation. The game’s design challenges traditional notions of success and failure, helping students understand real-life challenges.
TGEEA said the project was shaped by years of research and classroom feedback, offering educators a new tool for engaging students on gender and social issues. With cooperative gameplay and scenario-based cards, players are encouraged to seek shared solutions.
To mark the launch, the group opened an interactive exhibition called “Welcome to Magic School: Begin Your Journey” at New Taipei’s Youth Arts Hub. Running through July 6, the event brings the game to life through immersive experiences focused on gender dynamics and digital safety.
