TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A Taiwan Day at one of Bangkok’s largest shopping malls utilized food stalls to entice Thais to visit Taiwan, reports said Friday.
The June 10-15 event took place at Centralworld, with the Tourism Administration inviting Thai actor Teeradetch Metawarayut, who goes by the nickname Alek, to help out with promotional work.
While the fair focused on traditional and popular Taiwanese food items including bubble tea and cold noodles, travel agencies were also present to familiarize Thai visitors with the sights of Taiwan, per CNA.
Interactive displays allowed visitors to draw fortune sticks at the Donggang Zhenhai Temple in Pingtung, showing the Thai public a window into Taiwan’s traditional culture.
Taiwan Day was not Alek’s first event promoting the country. He accepted the role of tourism ambassador for Taiwan in January with the launch of a nine-minute short film titled “Taiwan(na) Go with Me?”
In Bangkok, he recounted the story of how the owner of the B&B he was staying at on the outlying island of Matsu helped him find open restaurants.
