TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A delegation of lawmakers from the French National Assembly arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a six-day visit.
The delegation is led by Marie-Noëlle Battistel, who was elected chairwoman of the Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group in January. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the group of five lawmakers upon arrival at the airport.
The delegation also includes Éric Martineau, Laetitia Saint-Paul, Marie-José Allemand, and Claudia Rouaux. During their stay, the group will meet with President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), according to a press release.
The French lawmakers will also discuss trade and bilateral cooperation with ministers at the Executive Yuan. They are scheduled to visit Chiayi to tour Taiwan’s drone innovation research and development center, per CNA.
MOFA said visiting delegations help promote substantive exchanges and strengthen the close relationship and shared values between Taiwan and France.
