TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport recommends passengers arrive at least three hours before their flight during the Dragon Boat Festival travel rush.
The airport is expected to handle over 687,000 passengers during the five-day holiday period from Thursday to Monday. The airport advises passengers to use smart services such as mobile and online check-in, as well as e-gate automated immigration clearance.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said the peak for outbound flights will occur on May 29, while the peak for inbound travelers will be on June 1. To manage crowds during these peak times, the Aviation Police Bureau and the National Immigration Agency will open all security and e-gate lanes to provide optimal service.
Since May 3, the airport MRT has been operating a direct early-morning train departing from Taipei Main Station at 5:30 a.m., with stops at New Taipei Industrial Park Station and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station.
Ubus has added extra services to Taichung, while Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation has introduced additional nighttime buses between the airport and Taipei Main Station. Extra taxis have also been deployed to accommodate the increased travel demand.
