TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Japan's renowned sushi chain, Syouchinosuke by Gattensushi, is opening its first-ever Taiwan branch on May 29, on the 6th floor of LaLaport Nangang shopping mall.
The new restaurant features an automated express rail system that zips freshly prepared sushi directly to 17 semi-private dining booths.
With a menu boasting 127 Japanese dishes, including 70% sushi and sashimi, alongside tempura and soba, guests can enjoy an authentic and refined Japanese feast far beyond a typical conveyor belt sushi spot.
Headlining the menu are luxurious, seldom-seen options in sushi chain restaurants, such as the Ise lobster nigiri, made from fresh lobster directly handled in-store, renowned for its sweet, springy texture and rich umami.
Another highlight is the abalone, served freshly shucked to preserve its crisp texture and flavor, often paired with its fresh liver.
Tuna connoisseurs will not be disappointed, with a comprehensive Bluefin Tuna series featuring prime cuts like akami, chutoro, and otoro, along with a special marinated tuna dish.
Other standout offerings include the richly flavored sujiko nigiri (salmon roe still on the membrane), visually stunning sea treasure rolls, and popular Japanese favorites like salmon and tuna nigiri, ensuring a diverse and exciting culinary journey for all.
For those seeking guidance, consider ordering from the top 10 most popular sushi items as tallied by its Japan branches in April. Salmon sushi takes the crown, featuring premium Atlantic salmon.
Rounding out the top five are tuna sushi, salmon roe gunkan, the value-packed red squid sushi, and the exquisitely textured sea snail sushi, known for its firm bite and elegant sweetness.
The popularity continues with the multi-flavored scallion tuna roll, shrimp sushi, Hokkaido scallop, red shrimp, and the delicate, rock-salt seasoned aburi engawa (flounder fin).
To celebrate its highly anticipated debut, Sensho-suke by Gatten Sushi is rolling out exciting opening promotions. The first 20 groups of four or more diners on May 29 will receive a complimentary sushi set.
Plus, by joining the restaurant's official Line account, members will instantly get a free matcha ice cream and enter a raffle for prizes, including vouchers up to NT$5,000 (US$166).
