TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan denied China's accusation of a DPP-led cyberattack, accusing Beijing of spreading disinformation.
China on Tuesday alleged that a hacker group supported by Taiwan's ruling party carried out cyberattacks on a tech firm in Guangzhou, per CNA. Chinese police have reported that hackers have targeted over 1,000 network systems, including those in the military, energy, hydropower, transportation, and government sectors, across 10 provinces in recent years.
In response to the allegations on Wednesday, Taiwan's National Security Bureau told Reuters that the Chinese Communist Party is "manipulating inaccurate information to confuse the outside world.” It called the CCP a threat to global information security for spreading false information about cyber breaches.
The NSB added that the CCP has long carried out cyberattacks and theft of funds from Taiwan. It said this form of cognitive warfare attempts to destroy Taiwan's critical infrastructure and grow social division.
