TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung’s National Museum of Natural Science will raise admission prices starting July 1, marking its first ticket price increase since opening in 1986.
According to a press release issued Monday, full-price tickets will increase from NT$100 (US$3) to NT$120, while the museum’s “Dinosaur Card” membership will rise from NT$300 to NT$360. Student tickets for those aged 12 and older, as well as general group tickets for 20 or more people, will go from NT$70 to NT$90, per CNA.
Group student tickets, children aged 6 to 11, and seniors visiting on holidays will see prices rise from NT$50 to NT$60.
Discounts remain unchanged for children under 6, seniors over 65 on weekdays, visitors with disabilities and their companions, and volunteer honor card holders. Fees for other attractions, including the Botanical Garden and Space Theater, will also remain unchanged.
The museum said the adjustments reflect rising operational costs, noting it has maintained its current pricing for nearly four decades. Rental fees and a new usage charge for the earthquake simulator at the 921 Earthquake Education Park will also take effect in July.
Museum Director Huang Wen-shan (黃文山) said the facility has recently undergone renovations, including exhibit updates and air conditioning system upgrades that began last year. He said the new prices aim to ensure the museum remains financially sustainable while continuing to offer a high-quality experience for visitors.
