TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Deputy Secretary-General of Taiwan’s National Security Council Lin Fei-fan (林飛帆) on Monday donated €1,500 (NT$50,000) to support the Ukrainian community in Estonia.
Lin attended the Vyshyvanka Unites festival at the Estonian Open Air Museum in Tallinn at the invitation of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia, according to Taiwan's Latvia office. In his remarks, he pointed out that Taiwan’s government and civil society have provided over 700 tonnes of humanitarian aid and medical supplies and donated US$120 million to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Taiwan has also closely collaborated with like-minded Central and Eastern European countries, including Estonia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Lithuania, to support Ukraine’s reconstruction, he said.
A shipment of 1 million medical masks, collected through a Taiwan government-led donation campaign, arrived at the Port of Tallinn, Estonia last week, Lin said. These supplies will be distributed to Ukraine’s healthcare system and frontline personnel.
The deputy NSC secretary-general emphasized that these concrete actions reflect Taiwan’s sincere concern and support for Ukrainians. He hoped that Ukrainians would be able to return to normal life.
Volodymyr Palamar, chair of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia, said that among many contributing nations, Taiwan has been the most steadfast supporter of the Ukrainian community in Estonia. The donation demonstrates Taiwan’s compassion and underscores the shared commitment between Taiwan and Ukraine to freedom and democracy.
