TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — In a strategic move to deepen its Asia-Pacific operations and support Taiwanese businesses overseas, Taipei Fubon Bank has officially launched its Seoul office.
This makes Taipei Fubon Bank the second Taiwanese bank to establish a presence in South Korea. The move reinforces its commitment to expanding its international service network and enhancing its cross-border financial solutions.
Taipei Fubon Bank President Tim Kuo (郭倍廷) emphasized South Korea’s position as a major Asian economy, citing its strong innovation in technology and manufacturing. With bilateral trade between Taiwan and South Korea continuing to grow, the business potential is substantial, he said.
Kuo noted that the new office will carefully assess the possibilities to collaborate with the broader Fubon Financial Holding’s existing investments in Korea to foster greater synergy. These investments include Fubon Hyundai Life Insurance, Woori Financial Group, and Hyundai Card.
Strategically located in Seoul’s Yeouido Business District (YBD) at the Three IFC, the office benefits from proximity to key financial institutions such as the Korea Exchange and the Financial Supervisory Service. This area is also home to major non-banking financial firms and foreign enterprises, including the headquarters of Fubon Hyundai Life Insurance and Hyundai Card, facilitating greater internal collaboration and financial industry engagement.
In its initial phase, the Seoul office will focus on market research, and relationship-building with local financial institutions and corporations, as well as the Taiwanese corporations and community there. These efforts aim to better understand local client needs and help formulate future business strategies, ultimately enhancing Taipei Fubon Bank’s regional influence.
With a strong foundation in cross-border finance, Taipei Fubon Bank continues expanding its Asia-Pacific presence. Including the Seoul office, the bank now operates one subsidiary, five overseas branches, and three representative offices in the region.
Further expansion is on the horizon, with new branches planned in Sydney, Tokyo, and India. Aiming to be a top Asian financial institution, the bank is growing its network to better serve clients worldwide.
