TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's first airport pet drop-off facility began trial operations Friday at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, offering greater convenience for travelers with pets.
Developed by I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Corp. and Hi Pet Chan, “Terminal P” is located in the Northern Sky Town commercial zone on the north side of Terminal 2’s departure hall. Outbound passengers can drop off their pets before boarding.
Animals are transported via a private shuttle operating 24/7 to a nearby pet hotel about 10 to 15 minutes from the terminal. Upon returning to Taiwan, owners can pick up their pets directly at the terminal, eliminating the need for additional detours or transfers.
The full-service pet hotel features 98 rooms for dogs and 26 for cats, with designated areas tailored to the needs of each species. Each zone is equipped with energy recovery ventilators, air purifiers, and temperature and humidity controls to ensure a hygienic and comfortable environment.
Amenities include grooming stations, indoor and outdoor play areas, and around-the-clock staff, with security supported by infrared surveillance. Pets receive reverse osmosis purified water and customized meal plans based on individual dietary needs.

To ease pet owners’ concerns, the facility is equipped with 144 surveillance cameras covering all public areas and individual rooms. Owners can monitor their pets in real time through remote live-stream access and receive daily updates from caregivers.
Reservations can be made through the hotel’s official website. Due to limited availability, travelers are encouraged to book early—ideally two to three months in advance for peak travel periods such as major holidays, and three to four weeks ahead for regular weekends and public holidays.
For fully booked periods, customers may call to inquire about possible openings. Pet check-in should be completed three to three and a half hours before flight departure.
Currently, the hotel accepts dogs weighing under 15 kg and aged between eight months and 13 years. Dogs up to 15 years may be admitted after a health assessment.
Due to safety concerns, breeds such as pit bulls, chow chows, and mastiffs are not accepted at this time.
I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Corp. emphasized that the service operates with clear procedures, transparent care practices, and a secure environment, aiming to reduce separation stress during international travel. The company said the offering helps pets and their owners embark on journeys with greater peace of mind.
I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Corp. is an affiliate of Taiwanese food provider I-Mei Foods Co. It operates as a specialized team dedicated to mall development and brand management.
