TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Army's Kinmen Defense Command carried out its annual Taiwu live-fire exercise on Tuesday to ensure combat readiness.
Drills were carried out across Kinmen, integrating infantry, armored, and artillery units to practice firing along the coastline, CNA reported.
The command said the exercise simulated real-combat scenarios. Soldiers were tested on their joint fire coordination and use of command-and-control mechanisms. They quickly completed ammunition and weapons inspections without any issue, per CNA.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to training and preparation amid growing external threats. It also pledged to bolster the Kinmen’s defensive capabilities and uphold its mission to safeguard Taiwan and the Taiwanese.
The exercise comes a day after the military debuted its High Mobility Artillery Rocket System during a series of drills in Pingtung to test its precision-guided munitions. The tests included firing Stinger missiles, aerial maneuvers by Army helicopters, and rocket launches by Thunderbolt-2000 multiple launch rocket systems.
