TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines announced Tuesday the launch of a new flight from Taipei to Shimojishima island in Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture starting Aug. 22.
The airline is the first Taiwan carrier to operate direct flights to the island, per a Starlux press release. The route will be served by A321neo aircraft, with two flights per week. Tickets are now on sale.
The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and will be available until Oct. 24.
Starlux said it has partnered with Lion Travel, SET Tour, ezTravel, and Cola Tour to offer group and individual travel packages to nearby Miyakojima island, with four-day trips starting from NT$18,900 (US$625.98).
Additionally, the airline has teamed up with DJB eSIM Global to offer a free four-day unlimited eSIM to all passengers departing from Taipei on this route. The eSIM can be collected at airport check-in, and those staying longer can use an exclusive promo code for discounted extensions, Starlux said.
