TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taipei’s first international city forum will take place on May 16, with the city government hoping it will become an annual event, reports said Tuesday.
Mayors from more than a dozen cities are scheduled to attend, per CNA. Most speakers and attendants come from the sister cities of Taipei.
The forum is timed on the eve of the opening of the May 17-30 World Masters Games in Taipei and New Taipei. The Taipei City Government said Tuesday it has invited more than 150 guests, including mayors from overseas and diplomats posted in Taiwan.
The cities participating in the forum come from Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The event will take place at the Regent Taipei Hotel on the morning of May 16.
Innovation, health, and sustainability are the themes, with Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) to deliver a speech about innovation producing healthier living. Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua (林奕華) will speak about a sustainable community friendly to all age groups.
