TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Taiwan University of Science and Technology drew over 200 companies offering 16,000 jobs at its campus job fair on March 28, highlighting demand for talent in AI and semiconductors.
NTUST said in a press release that this year’s event featured industry leaders like TSMC, ASML, and Quanta. Over 70% of the recruiters came from the tech and manufacturing sectors, per CNA.
Sixty-eight companies held presentations to share workplace trends and career advice. Amid persistent labor shortages, firms are stepping up recruitment with incentives like scholarships and long-term training programs. Asus, for instance, is offering up to NT$1.12 million (US$35,000) in scholarships over four years to attract early talent.
With rising demand for semiconductor talent, Tokyo Electron sent senior engineers and managers to engage with students. Alumni from the company were also on hand to discuss corporate life and career pathways.
Lite-On Technology, which recently launched new AI solutions with Nvidia, also sought fresh talent. NTUST accounted for 35% of the company’s new hires last year, according to HR head Liu Pang-heng (劉邦亨).
To strengthen its AI workforce, Lite-On has launched English-language internships and trainee programs open to students of all majors. The goal is to cultivate T-shaped talent with depth in AI and broad interdisciplinary skills.
Taiwan Tech President Yan Chia-yu (顏家鈺) said the university’s global focus and industry ties have built a workforce ready to hit the ground running. He said he hopes that the event can continue to serve as a bridge between top talent and employers.
