TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentary Group in Poland’s parliament on Monday issued a statement calling for peace in the Taiwan Strait and backing Taiwan’s inclusion in global organizations.
The statement emphasized that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are vital to global security and opposed unilateral actions that seek to alter the status quo, CNA reported. It pointed out that China misinterpreted UN Resolution 2758, which did not determine Taiwan’s political status.
The group reaffirmed that Poland and Taiwan are like-minded partners that share core values such as freedom and human rights, per CNA. It also highlighted growing bilateral exchanges in trade, higher education, law enforcement cooperation, and technological development.
The group lauded Taiwan’s key role in the global semiconductor industry and described the country as a trustworthy partner in Poland’s efforts to restructure global supply chains. The group supported stronger partnerships between the Polish public and private sectors and Taiwan to build a resilient democratic supply chain.
Taiwan’s representative office in Poland thanked the group for their unwavering support.
