TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Revered by top baristas worldwide, high-end coffee brand Ninety Plus opened its first global flagship store in Taiwan.
For those who appreciate the finer things in life and possess a passion for exceptional coffee, Ninety Plus, hailed by some as the "Hermes of coffee," has arrived in Taiwan. The brand, celebrated by top baristas globally for its unparalleled quality and rarity, has launched its first global flagship concept store, the Ninety Plus Portal Store, at Noke Mall in Taipei.
Ninety Plus's distinction begins in the pristine highlands of Panama, where the coveted Ethiopian Gesha variety flourishes in the mineral-rich volcanic soil of Baru Volcano.
Guided by a deep respect for nature, founder Joseph Brodsky champions sustainable cultivation practices, yielding extraordinary beans.
Brodsky's journey, starting in Ethiopia in 2005, led him to establish the Ninety Plus estates in Panama in 2009, recognizing the crucial link between healthy land and exceptional flavor. His commitment extends to fostering biodiversity by initially planting shade trees and partnering with the indigenous Ngabe-Bugle community for a sustainable ecosystem.
Now, Ninety Plus brings its "land to cup" philosophy directly to Taiwanese consumers, recognizing their sophisticated coffee culture. Taipei marks the inaugural location for their global concept store, with future expansions planned for the Americas, the Middle East, and Europe.
A key offering is the exclusive "Livpack," developed in collaboration with Taiwanese champion barista Stanley Chien (簡嘉程), the first to visit their Panamanian farms.
These meticulously crafted single-serve packs contain the top 3% of Ninety Plus's harvest, expertly roasted to minimize brewing variables and allow both connoisseurs and novices to fully appreciate their Panamanian Gesha's nuanced flavors.
The initial global release showcases eight unique Livpacks, each with its own story. "Lycello" evokes lychee and cello, inspired by Chien's tasting notes and Brodsky's musical association. "Perci" offers a rich, chocolatey profile with fruity hints from its natural processing, while "Juliette" boasts delicate floral and citrus notes from a specialized fermentation.
The store, designed by AI Group (築內國際), enhances the sensory experience. Inspired by Baru Volcano's topography, the space features contour models and plant installations reflecting Panama's climate, while scent diffusers allow guests to appreciate the beans' captivating aroma.
Beyond the Livpack, Ninety Plus provides a bespoke roasting service, tailored to individual preferences using data analytics. They have also partnered with restaurant La Vie by Thomas Bühner, featuring Ninety Plus coffees in their menu and inspiring a unique dessert.
To celebrate the launch, Brodsky introduced the limited "Estate Reserve Series," including the "Private 227" with caramel, chocolate, and herbal notes, and the "Pink Blossom" with vibrant grapefruit and floral hints.
