TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Army’s 53rd Engineer Group recently conducted TNT demolition training in Taoyuan.
Upon receiving TNT, soldiers completed electric detonator continuity tests and other preparatory work, Military News Agency reported. They ensured that firing lines remained in a short-circuit state to prevent accidental detonation caused by static electricity.
Once in the demolition zone, soldiers carefully connected the electric detonators to the main line and returned to the firing point to prepare for detonation. The drills tested soldiers’ proficiency in demolition procedures.
On Friday, the Army's 584th Armored Brigade conducted a reconnaissance patrol in Hsinchu. Troops simulated scenarios such as key targets being attacked or destroyed by enemy forces. CM34 Infantry Fighting Vehicles and other vehicles were deployed to designated locations.
Troops quickly dismounted to engage in simulated ground combat, established a 360-degree security perimeter, and searched the surrounding area.
The drills come ahead of the live-fire phase of the Han Kuang 41 military exercise, scheduled for July 9-18.
The computer simulation segment of Han Kuang 41 concluded on April 18. This year's exercise simulated a range of scenarios, including Chinese gray-zone tactics and a full-scale invasion, according to Defense Minister Wellington Koo (顧立雄). The goal was to identify areas for improvement, refine contingency procedures, and strengthen overall combat readiness.
