TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan representative to the US Alexander Tah-ray Yui (俞大㵢) said Taiwan is willing to buy more weapons, LNG, and agricultural products from the US.
In a Fox News interview on Wednesday, Yui said that Taiwan is taking measures to reduce its NT$2.37 trillion (US$73 billion) trade deficit with the US, per Reuters. The envoy said the government is willing to lower reciprocal tariffs, remove non-trade barriers, and up investments by Taiwanese companies.
Yui said negotiations with the US on lowering tariffs are developing. Taiwan was reportedly included in the first round of talks.
The US reduced the tariff on Taiwan imports from 32% to 10% amid a 90-day pause. This followed Taiwan's submission of an industrial support plan to the US government.
