TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Indiana Senate expressed support for Taiwan's international participation in a resolution passed on Monday.
The Senate advocated for Taiwan’s inclusion in global organizations, “which impact the health, safety, and well-being of the people of Taiwan." It backed Taiwan's desire to contribute more to the international community.
The Senate said Taiwan embraces “values-based” diplomacy. It is ready and willing to “fulfill its responsibilities and collaborate with the world to help with the challenges of humanitarian aid, medical assistance, and more.”
The Senate also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening sister ties with Taiwan and supporting the Taiwan Relations Act.
Taiwan was Indiana's sixth-largest export market in Asia in 2023. That year, US$254 million (NT$8.25 billion) worth of Indiana goods were exported to Taiwan. A US$14 million investment from Taiwan supported up to 3,355 jobs in the state, according to the Senate.
