TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chunghwa Post will release a new set of stamps on Friday showcasing Taiwan’s folk beliefs, with each stamp featuring a deity revered in religious culture.
The four-stamp series includes depictions of Fude zhengshen, the Holy Emperor Guan, the Jade Emperor, and Guanyin Bodhisattva. Each stamp is priced at NT$8 (25 cents) and is designed to reflect the deep spiritual and cultural significance these deities hold in Taiwanese society, Chunghwa Post stated.
A similar set was issued in 2022. This release continues Chunghwa Post’s efforts to promote traditional folk beliefs.
Fude zhengshen, often seen as the guardian of rural communities, is illustrated with a kind expression, a long white beard, a gold ingot in one hand, and a staff in the other. He is a familiar presence in village life and is widely believed to oversee daily affairs.
The Holy Emperor Guan, a symbol of loyalty and righteousness, is venerated across professions and religious traditions, including Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. He is portrayed with a flowing beard and his signature weapon, the Green Dragon Crescent Blade.
The Jade Emperor is regarded as the highest deity in the celestial hierarchy. He is shown in regal attire and is believed to preside over heaven and earth.
Guanyin Bodhisattva, representing compassion and mercy, is depicted holding a willow branch in her right hand and a vase of pure water in her left. She is said to respond to the cries of the world, offering comfort and salvation.

To mark the occasion, Chunghwa Post is also releasing special philatelic items, including a first-day cover, stamp folio card, stamp protector card, and a stamp album page. These items will be available for purchase starting Wednesday.
Collectors can purchase them at 37 designated philatelic offices across Taiwan. For detailed locations, visit Chunghwa Post’s official website.
Purchases can also be made online or by placing advance orders at local post offices.
