TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TSMC Charity Foundation on Friday signed an agreement with Kumamoto University and Kikuyo Town in Kyushu to establish a medical support system.
According to the foundation, the initiative aims to support healthy aging and provide healthcare services for TSMC expatriates and their families in Kumamoto Prefecture, per CNA.
TSMC Charity Foundation Chair Sophie Chang (張淑芬) said the project shows that public health is not solely a medical institution’s responsibility, UDN. Instead, it requires joint efforts from businesses, healthcare providers, and the community to build a supportive and sustainable environment.
The collaboration applies a “triangular public welfare model” to connect Kumamoto University’s expertise with Kikuyo Town’s community infrastructure. Chang explained that the model supports the local aging population and TSMC staff, building trust and fostering long-term cooperation.
Chang added that the system addresses cultural and language barriers, offering Taiwanese expatriates in Kumamoto a compassionate healthcare experience. The model integrates emergency services, preventative care, and everyday health management under a unified framework.
TSMC Charity Foundation said the partnership goes beyond corporate welfare, contributing to the region’s social good. Looking ahead, it plans to evaluate expanding the model to other TSMC overseas sites.
