TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tourism Administration recreated a traditional stir-fry restaurant at this year’s Taiwan Tourism Road Show in Seoul from April 19–20.
Visitors saw a live cooking demonstration of pineapple shrimp balls and tasted samples of classic Taiwanese dishes, including spicy stir-fried squid, saltwater chicken, and salt and pepper fried chicken, CNA reported.
Wang Yu-Yun (王昱云), representing Tainan-based restaurant The Render, said that Koreans loved the pineapple shrimp balls and were enthusiastic about Taiwanese food. They remarked that the pineapple shrimp balls differed from those served in Chinese restaurants in South Korea.
People could also play a guessing game about the ingredients used in Taiwanese cuisine.
Thirty-six Taiwanese travel and tourism businesses participated in the event, offering information on Taiwan tourism. Lucky visitors could win grand prizes like round-trip flights and accommodation vouchers by playing games.
More than 1,300 people attended the two-day event held at CaveHouse in Itaewon.
