TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday welcomed Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon for his first-ever official visit to Taiwan.
During his April 19-22 stay, the Republican official will meet Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), attend a reception hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺), and visit Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝), the ministry said in a statement.
Gordon will also hold discussions with business leaders and academics. A memorandum of cooperation was on the program to foster integration between Wyoming’s quantum computing R&D and Taiwan’s advantages in hardware manufacturing.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Taiwan was Wyoming’s eight largest export market in Asia, with exports totaling US$40.59 million (NT$1.32 billion) in 2024. The two sides were also celebrating the 41st anniversary of sister relations, the ministry said.
