TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – British rock star Sting is the latest global act to contribute to Kaohsiung’s growing reputation as a host for international concerts.
The British singer-songwriter, aged 73, will close off the East Asian leg of his Sting 3.0 World Tour at the Kaohsiung Music Center on Sept. 27. He has been accompanied on the tour by guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas.
Though The Police broke up in 1986, Sting is expected to perform several of the trio’s global hits during the concert, including “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “Walking on the Moon,” while not forgetting some of his more recent work, according to online setlists.
General ticket sales will begin on April 22 at 11 a.m., though presales will launch from Thursday, according to Live Nation Taiwan. The prices for the general sales range from NT$2,800 (US$86.50) to NT$7,800.
Kaohsiung has been boosting its concert economy with performances by top Taiwanese and global acts, including Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue, K-pop group Blackpink, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran.
On each occasion, thousands of fans poured into the city, producing a windfall for the local hospitality and restaurant sector.
