TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Indian Festival Taiwan is set to begin next week.
It comprises multiple events showcasing the rich tapestry of Indian music, dance, cuisine, and art, according to the India Taipei Association. It is organized by the Taipei India Music and Culture Center, with the support of the India Taipei Association, the Ministry of Culture, and New Taipei City Government.
The first event is the India Culture Festival, which opens on April 20 at the Dream Community in Xizhi, New Taipei City.
Visitors can explore an authentic Indian market and activities such as trying on sarees and Henna hand art, according to ITA. Additionally, there will be yoga workshops and Indian music performances.
Event organizers invited renowned Indian artists to commemorate 30 years of the establishment of the India Taipei Association.
On April 23, Xinzhuang Cultural Arts Center will host the Indian Masters Dance and Drama Performance, featuring Indian artists such as Kalamandalam Shiju Kumar and Dr. Gayathri Madhusudan, per ITA. This free event will spotlight classical Indian dances like Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi.
From April 26-27, Taipei Main Public Library will host the International Conference on Indian Performing to facilitate academic engagement between Indian and Taiwanese performing artists. Discussions will explore the aspects of Indian performance arts. Free admission is available, but those interested must pre-register, ITA said.
The International Indian Masters Drama and Dance performance, scheduled for April 27 at the Taipei Main Public Library, will be the final event. It will feature dances and theatrical performances.
