TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) welcomed closer Taiwan-Czech cooperation during talks with Czech Chamber of Deputies Deputy Speaker Jan Bartosek on Tuesday.
Taiwan is committed to strengthening cooperation with like-minded countries such as the Czech Republic to bolster democratic resilience, Lin said. He pointed out that Taiwan faces cyberattacks and cognitive warfare from China and has gained a deep understanding of the threat authoritarian regimes pose to democracies, according to the foreign ministry.
Lin thanked the Czech Republic for its longstanding support for Taiwan’s international participation and highlighted close bilateral collaboration in trade, technology, and culture.
Bartosek echoed Lin’s concerns about authoritarian regimes using cyberattacks and disinformation to undermine democracies. Democratic countries must strengthen cooperation to counter threats posed by China and Russia, he said.
The foreign ministry said Taiwan and the Czech Republic recognize the importance of safeguarding the values of democracy and freedom. The two countries have enhanced their democratic supply chain resilience and will continue to deepen the bilateral partnership, the ministry added.
