TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) announced on Tuesday that it established a dual master’s degree program in semiconductors with Thailand’s Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
Taipei Tech President Wang Hsi-fu (王錫福) and AIT President Lee Pai-chi (李百祺) signed the agreement in Taiwan in March, according to Taipei Tech. Wang expressed confidence that the dual-degree partnership will help drive the development of core strategic technologies. He hoped to expand collaboration with AIT to include AI, EMBA programs, and other academic fields to nurture outstanding talent.
The program is between Taipei Tech’s Frontier Institute of Research for Science and Technology and AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology.
Lee said that the semiconductor partnership with Taipei Tech is part of his broader “Engineering Transformation” initiative since taking office. The president said he aims to strengthen talent pipelines in semiconductors, AI, and other technology industries through international academic cooperation, in line with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, to help promote sustainable economic prosperity across Asia.
Wang led a delegation to Thailand in February and signed a university-level partnership agreement with Lee, making AIT Taipei Tech’s 24th partner university in Thailand.
