TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation confirmed Tuesday that delivery for new indigenous Brave Eagle trainer jets was completed.
AIDC confirmed that the last jet in the batch, No. 1145, was delivered to the Air Force on Wednesday, per CNA. The defense contractor said it was scheduled to hand over 18 aircraft by the end of last year but was delayed due to component shortages.
The shortages were mainly attributed to US suppliers prioritizing support for Russo-Ukrainian and Gaza wars, delaying engine material shipments, per Liberty Times. The company’s original schedule was: two aircraft in 2021, eight in 2022, 17 in 2023, 18 in 2024, 18 in 2025, and three in 2026.
Meanwhile, AIDC recently signed a letter of intent with Malaysian Cape EMS Bhd. The companies will collaborate in energy storage, aerospace, and biomedical technologies to expand their presence in the Southeast Asian market.
They also signed a five-year production agreement. The partnership will integrate Cape’s biomedical products with AIDC’s manufacturing capabilities and open a new production line in the US.
The company is scheduled to hold an investor conference later on Tuesday to present its yearly outlook, reported Liberty Times.
